« Design: Best Book Cover Art »

As I've mentioned in many posts, I read a lot. It makes you a better writer. It also helps you appreciate book cover art. So, naturally, I am a fan of the Book Cover Archive. Check it out for design inspiration. The use of typography and illustration across the collection of covers is nothing short of stunning. There is also a blog associated with the site. One recent post assembles a Top 10 Covers of the 00s list. My personal favorite is the art for A Shortcut Through Time. During this transitional period in the publishing industry in which unprecedented growth in ebooks threatens the long-term viability of printed-on-paper books, sites like Book Cover Archive serve as an important reminder of what is remarkable and unique about experiencing books in their traditional printed form.
